Language Capabilities

The main thing to bear in mind is to be specific. Don’t say anything in this area which can lead to a third party having to ask you to clarify what your capability is. Always state the level of your fluency in the particular language.

EXAMPLE:

• Do not state: “Cantonese, English, Mandarin, German”.
  
  
• Do state: “Fluent spoken Cantonese and English. Conversational Mandarin. Basic German.
  Able to read and write/draft in Chinese (both complex and simplified characters).”
