Our client is a NYSE listed electronics company that recorded sales of over USD 13 billion in 2006. Its business is focused on the distribution of quality semiconductors, passive components, electromechanical and connector products.

This heavyweight in its industry sector has 51 offices in 11 countries/territories in Asia (Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand) through which it distributes a full range of competitively priced products and quality services.

The Opportunity
This is an ideal role for a senior lawyer to lead the APAC legal team of this company. Based in Shanghai as legal counsel you will advise the key decision makers on all legal issues including commercial contracts, the viability of business models in the Greater China area including compliance matters.

As you will be actively involved in discussions with senior management to formulate business plans and enhance the productivity of the organization, this is a chance to demonstrate your commercial acumen and leadership skills in a prominent corporation. This regional role will also provide you with the opportunity to travel.

The Requirements
This opportunity requires a senior lawyer with substantial experience as in-house counsel, and a solid background in PRC transactions. The ability to speak Mandarin would be an advantage.

As you will be liaising with individuals from various areas of the business, you must be able to demonstrate great interpersonal skills and the ability to drive the legal process to meet the company’s objectives.
